Welcome to the first installment of Heart of the Art! These posts will give insight to the creative process of Xross Art; the goal is to have one for every edit posted, so hopefully it works out that way!
The Inspiration
Putting this edit together actually played a role in the concept for this project coming together; it’s not often that the end result brings a sense of excitement, but this definitely was one of those cases. A story that’s always been fascinating and awe-inspiring is found in Exodus 17:1-7, when Moses struck a rock with his staff to provide water for the Israelite people; granted it was a miracle purposed to get the people to stop complaining, but regardless it’s an amazing moment.
The Breakdown
This started out as an attempt to try more double exposure, believe it or not. In the Union app, the overlay from Instagram user @baptornis was placed on top of the image from Unsplash (a personal favorite site for acquiring photos to use for edits), and from there it was a very simple process. All it took after that was a visit through Reflect and Mextures, and that produced the final product; nothing overly fancy, but very pleased with how it turned out.
Blessings,
Xross Art
