The Inspiration
There is something truly majestic about mountains. They might not have the kind of intentional structure and design that we would normally see in modern day structure and skylines, but even the most renowned building can’t compare to the beauty of mountains that have stood for thousands of years. Nature may not have a practical blueprint with even lines and surfaces, but it’s designer made it all and made it to be good.
The Breakdown
The original photo taken from Unsplash was first taken into Union. At first, the aim was to use an overlay by Instagram user @triglyyy and blend it into the mountain somehow, but inverting the overlay to serve as a frame ended up having a better result. The base edit was brought through Tangent to add in the extra triangle elements on the side, as a creative stretch of refraining from filling the rest of the dark space. For color grading, some subtle changes were made to the “Cowards Choir” Mextures formula created by @triglyyy, and that is how this edit was completed.
One thing that we are looking forward to is utilizing various resources offered by many photographers and editors within the Instagram community; a huge part of this project and the overall vision is to build and support this community, and one big way to accomplish this is through collaboration via the expanding amount of free-for-all collections and overlays that keep popping up. If you have anything you’d like to share, let us know; we’d be happy to work with you!
Blessings,
