Heart of the Art: The Way We Look At Horses

The Inspiration

This was actually one of the first Unsplash images I saw and downloaded. A personal favorite for photos are ones that have open space to try all kinds of different ideas and elements to incorporate. A thought that comes to mind often is how we have all these animals in the world, an entire population of living, breathing creatures that make this planet we live on more fascinating as beautiful. Horses in particular are stunning animals; there’s an elegance to their design that can really draw you in. These animals may not have the ability to express emotions like we do, but the fact that they are products of creation means that they are reflections of God’s divine design. They show His glory simply by existing; they don’t need words to show gratitude, they just live as God intended them to. Sure we might domesticate them, train them, utilize them in many ways, but those horses are a great example of how believers should be: embracing our purpose and living out what God has for us.

The Breakdown

For this edit, the image was brought into Union. The overlays used here are the NGHBRS Elements by Instagram user nghbrs, some of the most unique and creative overlays available for the editing community. Instead of just adding them onto the image, the foreground was the yellow color and the overlays were used as a mask. It’s easy to throw a bunch of elements onto an image, but finding different ways to use them can be really fresh and exciting. Slight color grading was done in Faded.
