The Inspiration

This photo from Unsplash instantly sparked an idea of using the sawdust like stars, which led to the natural response of putting a planet onto it. The inspiration came from a song I used to sing as a kid, about how God has the world in his hands.

The Breakdown

For this edit, I first used Alien Sky to get a photo of Earth over a black background, then I sent it to Union to blend earth into the photo; the trick for making it realistic was blending the sawdust over the planet to give it a more dimensional feel and a stronger sense of realism. The edit was color graded in Mextures.
